Spring Term Update

Topic
This term our main topic is the Scottish Wars of Independence. This will cover the history of Scotland's fight for independence including the battles of Stirling Bridge, Falkirk and Bannockburn,  and the key players involved such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.

We will also be learning about castles, weapons, and about life in general 700 years ago. We will be turning our classrooms in to the interior of a castle and will look forward to showing this to you at our Open Afternoon later in the term.

The children seem very enthused about this topic and are already bringing in related books which are fantastic!

Our writing, technology, ICT and art work will be linked to this topic.

Homework
This continues to be handed out on a Monday and is to be returned by Friday. Please check and sign your child's homework diary each week. Homework consists of language work, maths and reading. In addition this term there will be a project to be completed on an aspect of our topic to be chosen by each pupil. Some of this will be done at school but the majority will be an independent homework task. The pupils will be issued with clear guidelines of what is expected.

Catch the Reading Bug
Our reading challenge continues and by P5 all pupils should be encouraged to have a chapter book at home to read in addition to the reading scheme book. Pupils will be asked to give a review of their book to the rest of the class.

Pencils, Glue and Rubbers !!!
Please can we remind you to ensure your child comes to school with sharp pencils, a rubber and a glue stick.

We look forward to an interesting term ahead. Any queries or concerns, please contact us and we will be happy to meet with you.

Thankyou

Mrs Drysdale, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Monkman
